DETAILS ITINERARY

DAY1  :  Transfer from Marrakech to Imlil
After your transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1,780m), you will set off a 6 hour trek out of the Imlil Valley and into the Azzadene Valley. Along the way you will pass Tizi N’Mzik at 2,450m, the refuge at Azib n’Tamsoult and the Ighouliden waterfalls. Overnight in the Lipeney mountain refuge at 3,000m.

DAY2  : From Imlil to Toubkal Refuge by Azzadene valley
Today involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3,560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in the Toubkal Refuge (Niltner Hut) where you’ll likely be sharing a bunk room with other trekkers tackling Toubkal early the next morning.

DAY3 : Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal summit & back to Imlil
Up early for the climb up Toubkal (4,167m) from where, clouds allowing, you’ll have wonderful views over the Atlas Range and the Sahara Desert then a long way back down past the refuge and the well-worn path back to Imlil. This is a fairly long day with 8-9 hours of trekking, involving 900m up then almost 2,500m back down to Imlil for the night.

DAY4 : Imlil – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge
On day 4, you and your party will transfer to the World Heritage site at Ait Benhaddou, which has provided the scenery for over 20 films. You will pass lots of spectacular views and beautiful villages before you get to the desert, at which point the scenery will transform into riversides of oases and kasbahs. Upon your arrival at the Valley Of The Roses, a Moroccan dinner will be waiting for you in a beautiful hotel in Dades.

DAY5 : Dades Gorge – Merzougua – Erg Chebbi
After your breakfast at the hotel, you and your group will transfer to the Todra Gorge, a gigantic fault line that divides the Atlas Mountains as a narrow valley peppered with Berber villages and rises to 300m. After your lunch, you will head deeper into the desert, to a tiny village called Merzouga, where you will trek overnight with the camels (you will get to sleep, do not worry!) to the beautiful Erg Chebbi dunes – the highest dunes in Morocco. You will then ride your camels for an hour and a half at sunset and sleep under the stars at a desert camp after a welcome Berber meal.

DAY6 : Erg Chebbi – Marrakech
The final day will present you with wonderful views of sunrise in the desert. You will then journey by camel back to Marrakech to arrive in the evening.
