Ait bougmaz actually translates as” the people of the man who scratches The name of the valley is derived from legend of its first inhabitant suffering from an unfortunate condition which he did not want to inflict on others, he came here to live alone. Whatever the basis of this legend, there is no sign of such misfortune in the valley today .Indeed it is with some justification that French trekkers have nicknamed ait bougmaz “ la valleé heureuse’’ the happy valley.

This is an extremely beautiful trek that will initially take you through some of the beautiful villages in all Morocco and later its sensational scenery.

It offers an adventure through one of its most wild and remote corners and passage through a series of gorges including the justly renowned achabou gorges one of the country‘s most famous and dramatic.
